Rules indicate that if your first post is a link etc, you will get a warning. But we also apply leniency towards new members who are asking for some help to ID a track, newbs posting their first little mix in the beginners section, or fathers/mothers that will post once asking what should they buy for their kid, etc etc etc.
I have seen some forums and/or other social network pages that will require you to present yourself, but it's simply not the policy over here. You have a choice to make an intro, or not.
We don't take the time to be incendiary towards newbies, we spend enough time moderating as it is (there is a lot people don't see), let alone having to monitor extra trolling or flame wars, that is not the policy over here. We are glad to help within what is reasonable.
That said, we have strict requirements in place regarding posting mixes, promoting and marketing music/goods, and posting in the wanted/for sale section. What you don't see is the amount of spam being deleted on a regular basis, fake vuitton bags, cheap crap from the east, fake discount listings, porn etc. We work around the clock on that.
But I'll let the admins expand on that...
