Hi Guys I currently have a pair of Pioneer HDJ500K headphones, I am looking to buy a new pair of headphones but am unsure on what to look at. I am a bedroom Dj (for now) and would like people's recommendations.
thanks

what's wrong with the hdj500? those are pretty good for both bedroom and non bedroom uses.

IMHO headphones are the most deeply personal item a DJ uses. I swear by my Sony MDR7506s; I love them. When you find the headphones that work, I'm sure you'll have the same opinion. Until then, try as many as you can. Asking for opinions on headphones is kinda like asking about mobile phones... everyone has an opinion that really doesn't mean much.

I've read the books like How to DJ right... to learn about... beatmatching, phrasing w/e , Speed Test Scrabble Word Finder Solitaire but when I go to mix...
My headphones my not be what u like and visaversa. I use beats by Dre solos. For me they are tight and sound great. I can quickly unplug aux for headphones and them being a snug fit they don't fall off bc I can rotate on side up.
It's what is works for you and what bells and whistles that you want.

There is no "ideal" for bedroom. It's either you like it or not. "Ideal" is preference, so get what you think suits you. Remember that headphones must sound good to your listening preference, should be sturdy, and must have good after sales service (parts availability) in case something happens. Stay away from crappy brands like Skull Candy and Beats.
Always been a fan of Technics DH1200 Headphones but there so many out there to choose from
I learned the hard way that headphones have to go loud enough, otherwise you won't be able to cue or beatmatch. Comfort and sturdiness play a major role too which is why some of the high-end studio headphones for example aren't suitable for DJ use (the HD-25's are really uncomfortable when used for long periods whereas a pair of AKG 121's aren't nowhere near sturdy)
This also puts stress on your mixer's headphone amp.
In bedroom use it's not a factor but when you're playing your first gig you'll get what I mean.
