Thread: New speakers

    New speakers

I’m looking at getting a new pair of speakers so I’ve been looking at JBL PRX-815, QSC 12.2 and QSC KW-152. I love the weight of the 12.2 but bass is not there. The PrX sounds like you don’t even need a sub. Haven’t tried the KWs yet. The Kw152s are same price as JBL SRX-815 but the weight of both really sucks, about 60lbs each. Decisions decisions !

Check out the Turbosound IQ15. I just recently bought them. Very happy here.

But in reality you do so buy 12" version of something and add a matching sub.

12" with subs, always they way to go... Even 10" will do. 15" shouldn't really exist in full range cabs.

Definitely not true at all. If you aren't using a sub, the single 15" is usually the best sounding full range speaker from a speaker line.

If you have a 15" system, you should have a second system (8", 10" or 12") with a sub or multiple subs.

    Then it was 5, then 6, then 7, then 9, then 10, then 7, and then 9.

15" PA speakers work great over double 18" subs. It's all relative.

Definitely is true... If one needs the extended low end they should be using a sub. People who are using a sub are wasting the box size, tuning etc as they'll be cutting it off anyways. The 15" has terrible upper mids. The list is endless to why it's bad.

If they don't need the extended low end the 12" will be perfectly fine.

Yes. 15" are great for kicks and duals for subs. I have dual 15" subs. I wrote 'full range cabs'.

A 15" full range will generally give better low response on their own but people never use them that way now. Totally wasted box space when used with subs.

Which is why a lot of PA tops have a mid range speaker.
I have a pair of JBL PRX635 speakers which has 15", 6", 1" drivers & in my opinion they sound as good as Hi-Fi speakers.
