    Ecler Nuo 4.0 Any thoughts?

    Hello DJ community!
I need a mixer of this spec. I've jus discovered this.
Has anyone used it and how well does it fare. Does it age well ,with regards to buying 2nd hand?
Has anyone used the Infinte xfader ? Is it good for a cheeky scratch session ?
    How is the original fader?
How would it compare to other makes at a similar price?
(I'm not fussed for internal FX -I'll use separates.)
Any thoughts would be most welcome,
    Cheers,
    El

I have a 4.0 and love it. Good gain structure, nice headroom.. good headphone sound, love the EQ's.. and for me, one of the great things about it is that the headphone mix volume is not affected by the position of the master output.. headphone mix will always be exactly 50/50 when the mix knob is in the center. Same thing with the master meter vs the channel meter.. these will always match exactly when the channel fader is all the way up (unity on the channel fader is all the way to the top). Also, you can bring the master to 100% without distortion.

In other words, gain structure on this mixer is the best I've seen on any DJ mixer.

I've also had the original 2 and 4.. the 2 I still have, I've lent it long term to one of my friends who uses it at home, the 4 I bought for next to nothing from an Australian guy who had brought it to NYC, I think he was the 2nd or 3rd owner, it was quite beaten up at the time.. I used it for about 5 years then sold it and so far as I know the person who I sold it to is still using it. So yea, they do last. I never had to change a fader.. but keeping in mind I am a mixing DJ, I never scratch and rarely cut very hard. I usually disable the crossfader so I'm the wrong person to ask about crossfaders.

So yea, basic, solid mixer.. sounds good, well designed.. can't ask for more than that.

I also have a DJM-800 which I use for rentals because that's what people want and it's not a bad mixer at all (some people hate it but everyone uses it) but I greatly prefer mixing on the Ecler. I also have a Xone:62 which is a great sounding mixer, right up there with the Ecler.. some say the Xone is better, I say it's too close to really call it. They are different.. the highs are a little pronounced on the Xone whereas the Ecler is more neutral. But they are both very good mixers. I like them both. However the Xone feels more fiddly to me whereas the Ecler for all the reasons I mentioned just does exactly what I want.

As above. Back in the day I was looking for either an 4.0 or a xone 62 and got the 62 in the end. The Ecler is the better one for scratching, the 62 is better at being smooth and progressive + 4 band EQ and filters.

Yea, def the Xone:62 is an awesome mixer, more like a real console than a DJ mixer.. I love the buttons and the faders.. and all the inputs it has.. the 4 band EQ's are cool as are the filters. I don't like the gain structure or the channel meters. Whereas the Ecler is a little more basic.. but what it does have, they got it just right. Both these mixers have their charms.. and both have EQ's that are a little different than the norm.. both have a more restricted range on the Bass and Highs.. and a bigger mid.. tho they do it differently.. the Xone having standard EQ's but two mid EQ's.. the Ecler having just one wider-than normal mid EQ but full kills (constant Q) on all bands. Both of em cooler than the usual EQ you get with Pioneer etc. Takes a little getting used to.

You'll love Ecler. The sound is amazing. The feel is excellent. I'm using a Nuo4 by the way.

Wow 3 years have gone by and I still haven't upgraded my dj mixer.
@Nicadraus do you use the original Nuo 4?
I heard the fx send was unhelpful in its design ,but I intend to use it in a prefade insert style so hopefully I'll be ok..? Anyone have experience with the fx send? (I will use Kaoss pad 3).
Also has anyone got any comparison between Nuo 4 and 4.0 ,like eq pot quality and Xfader curve function?
    Thanks DJs.

Did you get an Ecler and did you like it?

    I have a Nuo4.
It's technically got 5 channels and has pre/post fader send on 4 channels, as well as level control on the return, so plenty to handle an FX box.
Plus MiDI out, either by DIN or USB.

Probably not as effective as some mixers that a very heavy on the FX loop integration, but better than most.

Anyways, I use a DVS, so any FX are handled through there. Either controlled directly by the mixer via USB, or through my phone, or directly on the PC.

I'm guessing the EQ etc is standard across the Nuo line, certainly looks the same. I have no complaints.
bored, curious, deaf or just bad taste in music?
    finally a mix by me
and what's this, another shoddy mix...another dull mix

I loved my 4, I'd still be using it but it was getting a just a little too ragged looking to use at paid gigs where I was renting out my system. I sold it to someone else who was learning, gave them a good price. I have had a 2, a 4, and a 4.0.. they do all have the same EQ.

Hey thank you @pete and @light-o-matic really appreciate the extra info.
So it seems theres little difference from the 4 and 4.0 . Just extra connectivity around the back ,while the og 4 has midi controller.
I haven't bought an ecler yet, I spent my money on other stuff and concentrated on other production gear (elektron etc) but I'm eyeing a version 4 og Nuo right now and may bag one so thanks again guys

PS I like to use the decks and dj stuff for home studio production and jamming live with musicians if not DJing.
