    To say that the speaker gain is "Halfway" is meaningless because the mixer output is going to be different depending upon the exact mixer in use and how you set its levels. So my "halfway" could be a lot louder than yours or a lot quieter. You simply cannot meaningfully compare knob positions from one setup to another in that way.. not without a lot more info.

    The way you should set the levels is to turn your speakers all the way down at first. Now bring your mixer levels up until you are hitting 0 dB on the mixer meters. Now bring your speaker gain up until they are the loudest you will want to play it.. or until the clip/limit lights on the speakers start to blink. If they do then back the gain down a little. OK, now leave the speakers alone and adjust your volume from the mixer from then on, and the meter on the mixer will tell you when you've reached the max.
