good rotary encoder to use for DIY jogwheels?

Default Can someone point me towards a good rotary encoder to use for DIY jogwheels?
    Hi,

I am creating my own DIY MIDI mixer. I am looking for the best possible encoder for the price.

Apparently an optical rotary encoder is the way to go? I want my jogwheels to have a high resolution so they are very precise. I would also like my jogwheels to glide very smoothly. Ideally I am looking to spend around $10 per encoder.

Let me know what you guys think.

    Thanks!
