    Recording Setup.

I am currently using a DJM800/XDJ1000 setup and recording via the 2RCA REC out to audacity.

However when I am recording straight into audacity when playing I have to have the trims at the 9 o'clock position otherwise it just clips in audacity...

Can anyone recommend me some piece of good recording hardware? or info on why this is happening

    Thanks

    Aidan

Have you set up Audacity correctlly?
Is your soundcard input set to Line-In rather than Mic-In?
You should be able to control the input level on Audacity to get it to any level you want.
An external interface should only be used for sound quality, not sound level.
bored, curious, deaf or just bad taste in music?
    finally a mix by me
and what's this, another shoddy mix...another dull mix

Audacity audio settings are set to mic in by default, change that.

The best thing is to connect Your gear to audio interface/mixer and control the input volume. Or control Audacity's input volume manually.

    Best regards,

Just picked up a new soundcard for my PC and all seems to be working fine now using LINE/IN.

    Thanks everyone.
