"Consumables" The stuff we will always have to buy at one time or another.

So I'm in the middle of nightly scratch practice and realize that after less than a couple months the xfader on my new mixer is starting to bleed.
No biggy, we all know these WILL wear (unless you never use them) and we will need to replace it, not once, not twice but like oil changes in our cars we will need to replace them when we wear them out.

So then this got me thinking what else?

    Needles for sure
    Vinyl/Control

Faders can be cleaned and lubed up. Any decent mixer will have non-contact faders.

Vinyl, carts and headphones can only take so much abuse.

CDs are a lot less durable than the manufacturers would have you believe.
Hard drives do wear out over time. You don't want to be the guy who hasn't made a backup when the 1Tb goes pop.

Music - the only true consumable that we just can't get enough of.

all of the innofader range is non-contact of the highest quality.
the only ones that come close are Rane faders on their scratch mixers.

No one mentioned headphones yet. I had my old technics that I loved for about 6 years, they were rock solid and sounded great, but I only played gigs once or twice a month, so they stayed in great condition. Until I went DJing in Spain, for 6 months every night, by the time I got back they were a shadow of their former selves.

How long have you had them for? It was the ear pads that had just fell to pieces, from months of me sweating on them 6 hours a night and they weren't replaceable, I kept them going for about 18 months afterwards, but finally the arm snapped holding the cup onto the headband and I had to give them a funeral.
