Well, to be honest a lot of the scratching is out of time. Very rough sounding. The first two or three tracks that you mixed were not beat matched properly. That being said, the direction you are headed in is good. You just need to practice your techniques. I did not listen to the other sets yet. Yours is still playing. Well, you just dropped Daft Punk - Da Funk at 6:08 and sped it up, what sounds like an unecessary amount. It was also out of phase with the outgoing track.

Just clean it up a bit, you're headed in a good direction.

Wow actually the track before Barbara Streisand was also horridly terrible. Not to be a dick, but the rest of the tracks were good. Anyway keep practicing man, you definitely have a lot of promise. Also I would have transposed the key of Hello up, sounds like a key clash with the track you dropped over it (Happy star track from Rob Dyrdeks fantasy factory, whatever the name of the track is)

I will check out the other sets in a few, but overall, I would not have picked this set to be in a 3style contest. But seriously, you have potential, you are going to be on point soon if you keep practicing.

I'm talking about a DJ set and you're talking about working on marketing campaigns, wtf are we talking about here?? No I haven't worked in marketing, I'm a dj, my team does all that.

What equipment are you guys using that those scratches on 2 of these mixes sound so low quality? hmm

No offense man but on your mix it's like you are just beginning to mix or were just wasted on some good herb or alcohol.

I agree. I was part of a contest that I know the only reason I was picked is because I had a radio plug and they thought I would use it to give them hits to their website.

Some of the best DJs I've ever heard are ones that have little fans and spend 4-5 hours a day playing music in their bedroom for the love of it. They never get picked because they can't bring anybody out like a club DJ

Wow. I guess if I need to spell it out for you. This contest is a MARKETING CAMPAIGN for RedBull. As a representative of a brand they want to sell worldwide, I doubt they are gonna go with some guy that thinks he can re-create A-Trak's "fuck" intro from the '97 DMC.

Have no idea what your team has to do with it.

I just listened to the OPs mix. I'm sorry, but its really bad dude. All the scratching is out of time, none of the actual mixes are really on point and the less spoken about the tunes used, the better. I'd say the reason you didn't qualify is because you're not that good.

well i bought my techs on november, and my vestax pcm 05 mixer on january. I'm not good but tell me I'm worst than the other dudes.

Well I listened to 2 of the mixes, both soundcloud mixes. Yours pretty much the scratching was overdone and way out of time. Also you were dropping tracks all over the place. Basically I see that you tried to fit more than you could in those 15 minutes you had.

Now the other mix the guy was just a bit more smooth but played nothing exiting. Pretty much the hits you hear now not only in every club but in every corner too.

Think of your mixes like a story or movie... You have to have the right flow and to do that you have to sit down and plan how you are going to deliver that... If your phrase matching is on point, song selection is right and timing you dont have to worry about scratching so much. Read the topic here about why people still scratch... Although I know this is a contest where you must go ape shit, you can still simplify stuff.

Hope that helps and keep It up

just keep practicing man, keep up the scratching. dont scratch in a mix until you've completely mastered scratching. i've been scratching for a few months and i won't be scratching live or in a mix any time soon. i'll be putting up scratch sessions for criticism though which is what you should do. the second mix was corny and the quality was shit. the last mix was good smooth transitions and i understand why he was picked.
