    Interesting. For some reason I can't zoom in to get a closer look. All the same I like my blue ray player to be separate.

    No because that isn't really comparing apples to apples. You can use a TV without a VCR or DVD player but you can't use a speaker without an amplifier somewhere in the signal chain.

    There definitely has to be an on-board or out-board amp for speakers. Something has to feed power to the speaker.

    It is a somewhat similar comparison though. If the TV goes out the built in DVD is useless.
