What if no one gets the right numbers? Does someone still win?

Why don't lotteries pick out numbers will 1,000,000 people win? How is it that that has never happened?

eventually someone will. for the sake of 2 bucks, its worth a shot, i only ever played 5 times in the uk and won a tenner twice and 120 quid one time. i'm well up on lottery, dont do any other gambling, dont drink, dont smoke... and if the almost impossible happened, a lot of people will be happy.

Just a question of maths probability I guess.

Lotteries like this are good if some of the money goes to charity, or funding some kind of public service etc. - and that's the reason why it's good to go in for the lottery.

If you go in for the lottery with a 1 in however many million chance of winning, those are not good odds at all. You'd be better off just giving that couple of quid to charity. I don't think people realise quite how slim the chance is if you work it out. It's ridiculously slim. Probably way more likely to get struck by lightning twice in your lifetime.

even less chance than that i think.

and i agree about the charity, in fact i'll go on record and say if i won, i will donate 100 million to homeless people in this city.

Last time I bought a "Power Ball" ticket, it was $1.
But the number of US Supreme Court judges was always 6.
    Then it was 5, then 6, then 7, then 9, then 10, then 7, and then 9.

If that happened, the payout would be the same for the lottery. Just one millionth of the payout to the jack pot winners.

There's no way would I still DJ for a living.
I hate my job. Too loud, too many drunks, the hours suck, the pay sucks, etc.
I just hate it less than other job options I have.

I would spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on sound & lighting, DJ equipment, music equipment (Electric guitars & amp stacks, keyboards, drums, etc.), recording & production equipment, etc.

I would choose the annual payout option over the single payment option.
Because something like 40% of jackpot winners end up broke with in a year of winning the lottery.

So even if I loose all my money. I'll be getting a new check on my one year anniversary.
