The obvious - Quality will in no way match a photobooth... BUT... will a bride even notice or care? It's a novelty.

Would you include it as an upsell for $200? instead of a $1000 photobooth?

Personally, I can see this catching on majorly. Many of the brides I speak to WANT a photobooth, but end up not getting one when they realize it's $1000. If they can get one for $200 and have a bunch of iPad quality photos to put up on Facebook or in their wedding album I do not think they will care about the loss in quality. They are used to iPhone photos.

Another advantage... I could easily set up 3 or 4 of these things. Shit, we could put one on every table! Well, maybe not... They would walk. Whatever, food for thought though!

One thing B&G do is that they can get a 4x strip of the pictures (1 for the guests and one for a scrap book) that is printed on dye-sub printers (professional quality.) Like you, I wanted to add a Photobooth to my setup, but I didn't want to have to run it. So, I teamed with a photographer in the area and he gives me 15% of his take. Not bad if you ask me. I make a hundred or so and do not have to worry about setting it up or running it. Everything is handled professionally. I am at the point in my career, that it is not worth doing unless it is done right.

You are totally right, but where Sween is coming from is different. From what I read, Sween is looking to throw something extra at the bride with little cost to him. A bonus "hey book me, I can set you up with a photobooth and have your pictures on FB by the end of the night" attitude.

My ideas on this... sell it as a "mobile photobooth" - connect it directly with facebook. Build almost a TV frame fitting around the ipad, stain it black. Have the ipad inside the frame, have the frame sitting on the floor. Like a podium with a window for the ipad. Then take black curtain and make the other three sides of the booth. Bingo.

FINALLY! An excuse to get an iPad!! I love this idea. It's simple, and not insanely pricey. I would love to be able to offer something like this to brides. What I'm thinking would probably be 2 price points. $250 for the most basic photo booth setup, basically just the booth with all photos uploaded to facebook, website, whatever else. Other price point would be something like $350 to have someone man the booth, have pictures printed, and facebook uploads n stuff. The extra hundred bucks would basically just cover the cost of having someone run it, and for paper/ink. Looks like it'll work with wireless printers, so as long as you don't have to print an entire 8.5" x 11" sheet of photo paper every time, the 4x strip shouldn't be an issue.

I like this one best. I like the idea of having it set up on a speaker stand, and having an area above the screen for a nice bright light to make sure things are lit well for pictures:


Maybe I'll have to do this before investing in some uplighting!

You can buy a touch screen computer for around $400 when on sale that will allow you to run a real photo booth software that will cost you $100. The total cost will be less than an Ipad. It will also allow you to connect a printer via USB. for $100 more you can get software that will let you use a DSLR camera and it will also do video.

With a standard printer you are going have manually cut the 4x6 strips. With the long print times of a stndard printer you have have long wait times for guests and will have to change paper and ink multiple times.

Any suggestions on simple photobooth software? What would you suggest? Looks like eBay has some decent touchscreen all in one Dells right now for just over $300 with 3gb RAM, 19" screen and 160gb hard drives. I'd imagine something like that would be more than good enough to run some photobooth software.

Also, any suggestions on good printers to use for a photo booth? Do you cut your own photo strips, or buy them pre-cut?
