I love vinyl but the weight and cost is unreasonable nowadays. But to answer the question...
Hell yeah!!!
Hell yes!
Hell no!

In a way, I started on vinyl. When I decided to get into djing, I was going to get turntables and a mixer, then eventually move into also learning CDJs (this was 2006). I bought vinyl, learned how to do certain things on a turntable, and then started evaluating things on an economic scale....and that's when I figured that best thing to do was to go the CDJ way. But if vinyl was the only way, then yes, I would still be a dj.
I would not continue to be mobile with vinyl but I would most definitely, without a doubt, in a heart beat, DJ in live radio with vinyl
Oh, & yes in a club too if the equipment was stationary & I didn't have to move it back & forth, in & out.
so... no... ah, yes!

I would because it would've made me a waaaaaaaaaaaay better dj then i am now.
Confidence, and hard work is the key to success in anything. Lost track of battle record

the people who cant beatmatch without assistance or have not mastered mixing with solid media(records, cds) would just have to practise harder, if they loved the music then they would still be involved. it would just sift out the image djs (djing cos they think it will help them lick some titties at the end of the night) and leave the ones with the love of the music to prevail. also wedding/mobile djs dont mix as such but deserve respect as they are there to do a job as much as your big name club dj is.
me personally i would still be doing it and ill speak for all the kids who cant mix on vinyl but love the music, they also would still be doing it
Absolutely.
Probably would, but begrudgingly so.
I get the whole vinyl = good / digital = bad thing... although I think a lot of it is all about nostalgia more than anything else.
I only started DJing very recently (when I was financially able to do so, and was going through a mid-life crisis) and in that time I've only ever used midi controllers and CDJs, but I grew up listening to vinyl so I like it when I hear the cracks and pops you get as a record starts.
Whilst some of my favourite mixes of all time were played using vinyl, I fully realise that I like them so much because of other factors, e.g. what else was happening in my life at that particular time, or who I'm reminded of when I hear a particular set, or because I was there when something was recorded... but if I'm being honest I think that DJs using digital setups have more creative freedom and flexibility than a guy with solely TTs and a mixer.
I love listening to old Essential Mixes from back in the day, but without my rose-tinted glasses on I see that they were very basic and raw compared to what DJs such as James Zabiela can achieve nowadays with CDJs and an EFX1000.
I'm the same with cars... sometimes I think that I'd love a split-screen VW camper van from the 1960s because they've got so much character, but instead I drive a Lexus because it's more comfortable, more reliable, has more driving aids and cool gadgets, etc...
So, if I had no choice then I'd use TTs and vinyl, but luckily for me I do have a choice and I've chosen to stick with CDJs.
hell no!...I use to hang out with a few big vinyl djs when i was a kid and help them carry their crates into the clubs...was not interested in djing until cdjs came out...when that happened i knew i had to get in the dj game!
haha, I like your thinking! Altho', I fear I'm only relevant because when most people switched to digital, I got the edge by keeping with vinyl. If all DJ's still used vinyl, I wonder if I'd be good enough to stand the competition
(at the moment, I can progress at my own pace; seeing as everyone is doing mad tricks on digital; I can learn my own wee tricks in my own time - the competition goes with the most popular format as well as sound, especially in a small town like mine. I've forgotten what it's like to have serious local competition...maybe I'd be a lot better if I had some!)
