How do you think that these speakers would do as dj monitors in a high demand enviroment?

Personally I would want something that can deliver more then 121db peak since this cabinet will have to work to full potential to reach the 121db that means it's putting a lot of stress on it's components thus likely to shorten it's lifespan (or cause the speaker to go into thermal protection mid gig). I would prefer something that can deliver considerably more then 121db so that it will not have to work too hard to reach those levels thus not be stressed by the end of the gig.
If I had to play only for people who liked the music because they heard it on the radio, it wouldn't make me happy. -- David Guetta
Yea I use k12's right now for monitors so I would think that these would be a big step down. I figured I would ask considering $99 at pssl.
Good review on these. I was thinking of getting a pair of 12" ones for really small gigs along with their sub. Figure for the price you can't go totally wrong. Plus I live right near pssl so I can just go in and save on shipping
Hint -- buy thru Amazon.com and you will quite possibly get free shipping!
(I wish I had done this instead of ordering thru PSSL.com -- would have saved $60....)

Amazon doesn't offer the free Super Saver Shipping on them, that is where I ordered them from. It was a few dollars less in shipping over buying directly from PSSL but nothing significant.
yeah Summit, it was about $5 saved per speaker.
But I also had $30 "free credit" from my Amazon/Chase account, which made the price of a pair of GSR-10's only $235 (shipped to Northern CA, including sales tax).
Call me crazy, but I had to try a pair of 10's. Worst case scenario is I can sell them for $250 or more for the pair, used!

They really are a bargain. They seem 10x's better than say a Gemini or Pyle cabinet and they just look good. Many of those cheap cabinets look just that ... CHEAP. I still might grab a pair of 12's for myself for back ups or small outdoor gigs I don't want to risk my RCF's at.
Has anyone tryed the 12's? I am thinking of buying a pair for family reunions and what not so I don't have to worry about my K10's getting messed up.
Read my first post in this thread. Basically, the GSR-12 is the same speaker except for 50 watts additional woofer wattage.
The specs claim 55 hz (GSR-12) vs. 72 hz (GSR-10).
Based on my own experience, the GSR-12 can run "full range" without a subwoofer, but not at very loud volumes.
At high volume, with the "DJ" (high bass) setting -- there is too much distortion.
When I ran the GSR-12 with a subwoofer (JBL Eon 518s), there was no distortion whatsoever. Sound was nearly as good as Mackie SRM-450, not quite up there with JBL PRX series.
Still -- for under $300 for a pair of powered speakers....you can't beat this deal!
Highly recommend for background, light duty use. Perfect for ceremonies (where bass notes aren't needed).
