Traktor Vs Serato/Ableton (no not like that) LOL

ok so here's the skinny i own both... but use serato/ableton 98% of the time and been a die hard serato user since version 1.3 .. the major turn off is the lack of vertical waveforms on traktor so i haven't used it since studio pro 3 for 80$ i can get current which is chump change so im reaching out to you guys to ask what am i missing pro's and cons of each and get a balanced view of what i might be missing as far as my remixing and open format sets i like the idea of 4 decks and the sampler but never dove in to really use them (i have myriads of controllers sitting around) so those will come into play too im sure as well as tablet control

my major gripe with serato/ableton is that because of ableton i need to preplan everything and with thousands of tracks it cramps creativity on the fly serato i have no problems or complaints with other then the overviews not building the warps in ableton but i understand how difficult that might be to code again more an ableton issue

so basically what would i loose and what would i gain if i switched what would i need if i decided to keep it and what would you recommend

Will you be using it with turntables? If so, it'll be a lot more than $80.

Just remember that you have to get the full Traktor Scratch Pro 2 package. If you just get the interface, then the software upgrade is $300.

from what my NI rep told me from the version i have (studio 3) to upgrade to pro 2 it would be 80 + hardware (or get a used box off Craigslist)

Only if you don't want to use control vinyl or CDs. That privilege comes with a $300 upgrade. Although you could probably get a discount on that.

I think Traktor just announced something to the effect that all Traktor-related hardware came with Pro 2 pre-installed. They're trying to unify and simplify things. I think if you get your paws on a Traktor interface, you'll be good. Though if you're going through a rep, I'd go with whatever he says.

With the new product line simplification, you now have to buy Traktor Scratch to get an Audio 10 or Audio 6. The interfaces are no longer available separately without the software and control vinyl/CDs.

Now no one can buy Traktor Pro and an interface and wonder why they can't use timecode.
