    Unmixed albums on CD

I feel it's blasphemous to want more drum & bass on CD but I sold all my turntables and am planning on mixing digital. But when shopping around I prefer CDs over mp3 if it's out there. Do you have any album recommendations for unmixed drum & bass? Don't mention Hospital Records unless you name a particular album from them, as I'm already looking into their back catalogue for stuff. Any other labels with good compilations are welcome. I'm starting to wonder if Shogun Audio ever had anything on CD but doesn't look like it.

Almost anything is fair game, though I mostly am looking for late 90's and beyond (just for reasons to stick around the same bpm's)

If you're into Hospital then check Soul:R's back catalogue, they've released a few CDs.

Shogun have run off a fair few on CD. Ive seen alix perez 1984 out there, also their latest 'Way of the Warrior' album was on CD.
Why do you prefer CD's to MP3 though? Purely a sound quality thing? Or are you after the artwork that goes with it?

Yeah, if it isn't the sound quality thing, then look to download then burn an audio CD in iTunes or your fave pgm.
Also, IIRC there ARE download outlets that sell wav downloads. Not sure if they carry that particular stuff though and I think they usually cost more for obvious reasons.

EDIT: check out discogs.com. A quick search reveals they have 33 items matching search term "Shogun" 1997 year, CD format, drum n bass genre. There were also some post 90's matches. They have wavs too, but the drill down search engine isn't connected to that from what I saw.

It's more for the artwork, and to have an official pressed copy. I'd probably use burned copies for gigs anyways but original CDs for personal mixing/listening.

Finally found the Shogun stuff yesterday. I was searching in the wrong categories

    Glad you found it

Unfortunately I think CD's are a dying breed. I'd hedge my bets on them stopping CD press's long before vinyl dies in dnb.

From past experience don't bother with buying shogun's mp3's. They are all compressed to 192 I think. Don't compare to other MP3's I've bought from other labels, which is a real shame.

Some labels still release CD's over LP's, Scale is a good example of this and you get more bang for your buck just buying a cd over an MP3 which you might lose and has no resale value, can't be given as a present etc.

Another good label that releases good CD compilations is Red Mist Recordings. Check out The Sixth Extinction and The Red and The Black.
