Agreed. I kinda think using SSL/TSP with any CDJ is dumb. But I can see it. With the 2000s, it's really confusing.

I always preferred searto for its library usage. The idea that I can load it on my laptop and always have everything and searching for tracks and seeing different information is eesential to me. Sure if I roll up to a show and have a set list... i'll just run off USB. but if i'm doing a 4 hour set and want some flexibility without forgetting about loading tracks to a USB, serato is the way to go.

As far as the dicers, i use them soley for MORE cue points (cdj only allows 3) and auto loop roll functionality. which is a HUGE importance in my sets.

and yes they are both HID via USB

With HID it's so easy to setup it's crazy. My biggest complaint about using CDJs (now that i have 400s) is that a lot of the mappings don't line up and there is a lot of features that are just left unmapped.

There is a separate thread for this discussion here:

And for the record Traktor can do the same things with your music library.

its a nod to a setup my brother and i (and a lot of friends at that) used. when we would all get together to play we had a stack of cinder blocks we would build the dj booth with.

i used them to elevate the speakers to ear level. they have since been taken down and replaced with angled pieces of foam.

Or you could just use USB sticks and have all the buttons labeled right and mapped.

do it. I would advise putting the shelf a little closer, if thats where you plan on plopping a laptop. Mine is a bit of a reach, but it works out since i hardly touch it with the 57.
