Not sure if Jonny will reply as this thread is from a couple of years ago.

DB4 is my ultimate choice of mixer when I can justify the outlay, so $800 sounds an absolute bargain, proper jealous!!

Yup, a proper bargain. It did had issues with certain macOS's but that is almost a rule, there's always one OS that breaks that "no drivers needed" rule. A&H support lasts really long, even for discontinued hardware (Sierra drivers for XoneX and other older hardware) so you should be set for quite some time

Thanks for the replies, have been having loads of fun since I installed it in my booth.
Regarding support, it's slow but I agree they will support it for a long time.

I can see why it did not live up to expectations:

    high price
    steep learning curve
    Traktor certification

Besides that, I can not find another reason why this mixer did not sell like expected.

Let me add another one: DJ's started prefering simplified products. Instant gratification became desireable and suddenly products that have less features became club standard. Mixers are one part of DJ gear that hasn't changed that much in the last 15+ years yet somehow people let themselves be convinced that if you don't own a DJM at home you won't be able to DJ in a club that has one.

Clever and expensive marketing with the cost passed onto the consumer who in turn pays for the all the freebies that get given to the A listers.

Well I tought that was Pioneer's strategy

@SFM....that is what I mean with steep learning curve (and it takes effort & time)

Funny thing is, today I could sell my xone 62 for more than what I bought it in the first place 12 years ago

What does that mean? You get a lot more for your money with old Denon and even new InMusic Taiwanese-built Denon than you ever do with Pioneer.

    True
But resale value wise, the denons are a disaster.

And I don't even like Pioneer
