make a lower budget version of the XDJ-1000 or will that be the budget model. I'm not too fussed about touch screen features etc so maybe something like an XDJ-350 would be perfect for what i needed (as long as it worked in HID mode)
Already exists.
It's called the XDJ Aero.
The xdj aero is not at all the same thing. That's an all in one unit with two decks and a mixer. I too think it would be interesting to see a basic model of the single player for just straight playback in for example mobile use.
From what I heard they are bringing out not only a cheaper one but also a dearer one
This unit was going to be their middle one!
I'm toying with the idea of trading in my sx and 350's for the sz.
I'm not to keen on this 1000 set up.
Right, even if they did bring out a cheaper one I think it will still cost more than the 350 even though realistically it's the newer version of that!
Love my sx but I just think the SZ looks beast
My fear is they bring out the sz2 and I get screwed again like I did with the sx!
haha its DJ gear we always get screwed one way or another.
with regard to the XDJ1000 i like the idea of the touchscreen fully linking with Serato (perhaps the reason it hasn't been released yet) but i could put up with not having all that for a cheaper reliable model that would basically add a 3rd platter to my controller
I am going to buy a couple of I have the cash in a few months I think.
What I'd like is for them to bring out a higher end one that is maybe a couple of hundred quid more and addresses the issues we all pointed out in the thread when it was released (especially physical cue/loop buttons).

Yea I have to agree with Timmbo, I think this will be the middle of the road unit with a cheaper smaller format one similar in size to the CDJ-350 with a lot of features stripped out and then a higher end one with maybe user assignable soft buttons and a few other features like platter tension.
Here is avery good review of the Pioneer XDJ-1000's. I am thinking about getting a pair of these once they are supported by Serato DJ (HID). Since I already have a mixer that i love(Rane 64), why buy a controller (like the SX2). Even thought the controller would be lighter and smaller.
