I always bring two subs mostly for cosmetic reasons. It's worth bringing both just to avoid using speaker stands, which look bad IMO.

Personally I'm like the majority who posted before me and always bring a sub. For one, in my system I have everything crossed over around 100 Hz, so its almost as much of a hassle bypassing the crossover as it is just carrying in one extra piece of gear. Second, i still find the sound quality to be much better using a dedicated bass enclosure than running everything in full range. Even if I don't need a lot of boom for weddings the over all sound quality is superior. The only downside I can really see is carrying the extra Cabinet and the extra pack space required, but for me these are almost non issues. With that being said, most guests probably wouldn't notice or appreciate the extra effort but i still like to do it anyway.
Sub? >>>> Always![]()
I was at family wedding this weekend at a pretty decent size hall. DJ just had 2 JBL Eons. Not enough at all!! Subs are a must for anything over 50 ppl.
The good thing about the DJ's who follow this forum is that most of us/you guys are trying to "do things right"... thus the consensus is YES, use a sub.
The sad thing about real life is that most DJ's in the wedding world do not abide by this advice. I have never been to a wedding that was DJ'ed by someone else who brought subwoofers.
^^So here's the answer and you are free to take it with a grain of salt.
This is a small wedding we did and listen for yourself... Listen on good speakers...
We had to turn the sub down a bit but if I did not have one I could not all of a sudden produce one.

As already mentioned early in this thread and in a few similar threads in v1, its not about loudness. Its a bout fullness.
Theres nothing worse than the sound of a speaker being pushed too far so let your speaker rest a bit and bring the sub.
your bass will sound like bass and not like someone is clapping.
I do every Wedding with subs. I don't feel the need to cave the guests chests in with bass, but I do like to have a very full sound.
The only way I wouldn't use a sub is if I was using the KW-153's on a stage so that the speakers would be coupled to the stage not flown.
