    Cleaning up the goods.

I have an aging Vestax PMC05pro2 Mixer, Numark TTX's and a Serato SL1 as my main practice rig.
This gear is approximately 13 years old. I haven't used them in months and after connecting it all up yesterday, it sounds like someones gargling.

Whats the best way to clean all the connections and connectors?
I have a 10 year old Cali Lube vile, would that work?
I also would like to clean up a DJM 300 from 2000!

Suggestions would be helpful, don't want to brick these pieces just yet (although replacing SL1 running SL 2.5 doesn't sound like a bad idea)

    Thanks!

isopropyl alcohol at 99.9% is great. you can always dilute it with distilled water for the more delicate parts.

thanks, have you ever used deoxit d5 for cleaning as well?
after doing a bit of searching it seems like one of the more optimal products to clean connectors

13 year old equipment is practically brand new. I got stuff twice that old that works just fine. Why is it so dirty? Did it get all full of dust or something? Deoxit D5 would be my choice for cleaning, but I would try new cables first and make sure you have the SL1 box hooked up correctly to the mixer. If I remember correctly, it hooks up to the line input and not phono. Try it with out the SL1 box first.

That sounds more like a problem with the electronics than the connections. Maybe there's something wrong with the amplifier (or powered speakers)?

A bad connection usually either makes a buzzing noise or an occasional crackling noise.
But the number of US Supreme Court judges was always 6.
    Then it was 5, then 6, then 7, then 9, then 10, then 7, and then 9.

i will be getting the caigs lube kit tomorrow and ordered some gold plated rcas
    hopefully that sorts it out.
i did a cd player straight to the speakers which sounds great, so i'm thinking its within the mixer or sl1 box which needs the cleaning.

with older Vestax mixers, while your cleaning out the faders and components, run a soldering iron over the main outputs solder joints. Vestax is know to have cold solder points on those connectors.
