Hello, everybody! Here's the third installment from the "Mixed Bag of Classic House" series.
Click here to see it on Mixcloud
This one's a bit bigger than "A Mixed Bag of Classic House 2." As with the first two, it contains a decent selection of rare remixes, mixed together manually from vinyl without the use of a laptop or MIDI controller...
- Strafe - "Set It Off."
- Black Box - "Ride on Time."
- Three Wise Monkeys - "Work 4 Love."
- K-Yze - "Stomp (Move Jump Jack Your Body)."
- Raze - "Break 4 Love."
- Musto + Bones - "Dangerous on the Dance Floor."
- Full Intention - "America (I Love America)."
- Latour - "People Are Still Getting Jacked."
- Snap - "The Power."
- X-Press 2 - "The Sound."
- Stevie Wonder - "Superstition."
- Huff + Puff - "Help Me Make It."
There was some post-production applied, mainly to even out some levels issues and add in my DJ drops.
I'm quite pleased with a number of the transitions in this mix, but I'll readily admit that there are at least a couple with which I'm not so pleased... including one instance that my esteemed colleague Manu would call a definite "sneakers in the dryer" moment. That happens in the second half of the mix, and it'll be evident to any DJ paying even halfway close attention.
Track-wise, I'm also quite happy with it. "Dangerous on the Dance Floor," "Ride on Time" and "Stomp" remind me of my DJ mentor and my earliest years in the industry. "Set It Off" and "Break 4 Love" are bonafide house classics, but they've been given pretty significant remix overhauls. The "Superstition" version is a house dub that will hopefully make people happy, and that "People Are Still Getting Jacked" remix is a lot of fun. One of my favourite parts of the whole thing, though, is Three Wise Monkey's "Work 4 Love." Of all the songs in the batch, that's one of the ones that's most likely to make me break into movement. LOVE that song...
I look forward to hearing your thoughts about this mix... Thanks as usual!
