all i'm pointing out is that a producer behind many of the biggest names in commercial dance music claims that he doesn't produce his own material. not sure why that would come as such a shock... it really is common practice for pop releases especially with artists who have extensive promo or touring schedules. chances of this only go up when someone moves to a major label like virgin. these also happen to be the names that people mindlessly hero worship because they happened to be on some (imo) crappy ministry of sound compilation that got pushed to them by some dude on mtv or the radio. marketing at its best.

and again, i bet most of this unreleased material going out for a compilation (which is not a new album, it's a mostly compilation of old material + a couple unreleased works that virgin will try to rape your wallet for) is probably mediocre compared to the rest of the dude's work. it's all about the $$ -- obviously if virgin intends to sell a compilation of already-released material that fans already have, they're going to include a few unreleased works that they don't have to license from someone else to give you that necessary incentive. if the stuff was quality, there's a decent chance it woulda been released already by whoever he was working with in the past.

sorry to be frank about it but come on, i'd hope djs wouldn't so easily fall for this kinda crap.
That's fine, just realize that your generalization on commercial house music producerss does not apply at all to Prydz. And your idea of dj worship is not even close to how i admire the guy, and i feel that his unreleased stuff is better than most music out there right now. A lot of his tracks remained unrealeased because he takes FOREVER on songs, and he's had trouble finding a proper release for his album.

Prydz is easily my favorite producer and I've been stoked for this release. Allein is such a dope track. I've been obsessed ever since it's release.

    Question though....

Has anyone bought the full 3 disc set? Regarding the 'mixed' CDs, disc 1 and 2, are the tracks DJ friendly?

I'm definitely picking up the unreleased disc, but I'm up in the air on the other two. I already have a lot of the songs and if I can play the files out I may skip it.

    Thanks for any reply!

Also, he just released the first episode of his EPIC podcast last week....it is AMAZING. His other private remix of M83 - Midnight City is awesome. I got chills when I heard it the first time and noticed the change in the breakdown. Check it out on iTunes...it's free and well worth it.

I just ended up buying the whole thing. To answer my own question: The mix albums are split DJ friendly.

The whole album is amazing. HIGHLY recommended.

The album has been getting lots of hype from Zane Lowe on BBC. I follow Eric Prydz on Twitter and he very regularly posts photos on him while he's producing, I highly doubt he would use ghost producers.

    +1 for liking his stuff.

The guy is a genius. Seriously. He has an underground side that I like (Cirez D, Pryda). The fact he spins so many unreleased tracks at his shows makes people want to see him live more, since they will only hear the tunes there. I got into Progressive House because of him.

He's not a promo douchebag posting 100 times his show dates on Facebook, and he does minimal advertising. In other words, he keeps an aura of mystery around him, so people go to his shows mainly for his music and the incredible visual show and concept he put up, and not, unlike some do for many other DJs (Aoki, Girl Talk, or any other douche that jumps and runs like a fool around the stage), for his on stage performance.

I think his vision of EDM and of the EDM scene fits with mine.
Nicely summed up. I'm not a fan of most of his music (although you'd find a couple of his records lurking in my collection...) but I respect what the guy does, he's pretty skilled technically and knows how to make a good dancefloor track.
