I use m44's for DJing because they are cheap, good, reliable and have decent sound quality.
I use a grado cartridge for easy listening. If you spin timecode then just get the 35x and use the other money to buy an audiophile cart for ripping records.

Before you start wading through the Hi-Fi carts (Which can be expensive.) try the Shure M97XE. For a lot of people (including myself) this cart sounds good enough for listening & ripping.
