Anyone here use monitors instead of headphones when cuing music? I've never done it and have toyed with the idea.

That's standard at radio stations. Also in earlier days some clubs had sealed DJ booths with a glass window. I have an older Soundcraft club mixer (sounds great!) has jacks which output the cue signal so you can send it through monitors. So, it's not a totally crazy idea.
But in both these cases you are isolated from the crowd and don't have to worry about them hearing what you are doing, nor do you have to worry about being overwhelmed by pounding bass from the main system. Headphones solve both those problems which is why they are used in a live setting.
I don't, because it makes it too loud. (had to be louder than the main system) I want to be able to hear things when I'm older.
