Close to 500 kids packed in a gymnasium - middle school dance. 2x DSR118 and DXR12 handled the job easily. Ignoring aesthetics, I finally coupled the subs on one side (somewhat near a corner). Made a significant difference! Unfortunately ran out of time and didn't make all my cables neat, 90% though

DYM, really interesting setup you used.

How did you mount the speakers to the truss like that so they extended out?

And wouldn't you be worried about a bunch of kids moshing around the stands and knocking them over?

With a 90 lbs steel base plate and an additional 35 lbs sandbag countering the speaker, I felt it to be safer than speaker tripods. Also looked a lot cleaner in my opinion.

I'd rather run tripods. A 90 lbs steel base plate is excessive and ridiculously heavy.

Oh it is.... Trust me. Two of us move the thing... We like to put in the extra work to get the desired look.

So I want base plates but have yet to invest in them. I'm guessing yours are the 36" ones. I think I want the 24" aluminum ones or steel ones. I know I'd only want to have moving heads on them.

I would look into the new silver aluminum plates with the built in handle cut out.
