    The original Disco DJ turntable!

If you have been following my posts over on the mixer forum, you probably read about my Bozak rotary mixer rebuild. The Bozak was the original disco DJ mixer, and still sells for a crap load of money, if you can find one. Well this turntable was the original Disco DJ turntable. It's a Technics SL-1100A, the big brother to the original SL-1200mk1. I got two of these, and I'll be hooking them up to the Bozak mixer next week when it gets here, to complete my old school setup. If you think 1200's are built like a tank, the 1100's are built like a nuclear silo. How long do SL-1100A's last? I don't know, I'll let you know when they break. The pair I have are around 40 years old and still work perfectly. The only thing I have ever done to them was put a couple of drops of oil on the bearing, and spray the pitch control with Deoxit. I dug them out of storage today to clean them up and get them ready for the Bozak.

I never downloaded the manual for it, but as far as I know, that graph thing is just for looks.

A few years ago, they where going for around $150, but here recently the price has been sky rocketing due to audiophiles buying them up. There is one on Ebay right now for $585 and in the completed auctions it looks like the are going from around $350 to $500.

Cool for nostalgia sake but the 1200 is the REAL DEAL.

Nice looking turntables! This is why I like turntables. If you are lucky, you may find them somewhere in your attic.

Awesome! Really odd that audiophiles are snatching them up, as these are hardly an audiophile's tt (although they are awesome!).
Find it. Keep it. Work it. Share it.
