Broken RPM button on Technics 1200

I need to replace the 45 RPM button on one of my Technics 1200 M3Ds. The small window piece that the light shines through has broken off and fallen underneath the button so now it can't be pushed down all the way. I've looked all over the internet and can't find any instructions for doing this. Anybody on here have any advice? Thanks!

You have to remove the bottom weight and base to get to it. Once you have done this, you flip the deck plate over. Remove the screws holding the start/stop assembly in place (should be 3). You may been to disconnect the jumper from the main drive board to get the slack you need to remove the assembly. Once removed you will see the "horseshoe" washer which prevents the button from being removed. Remove this carefully and, on after change models, you will need to press a plastic tab on the button itself out of the way to remove the button. Remove button, replace, and reassemble. I am recalling this of the top of my head, if you have any trouble, let me know and I will pull out a spare to walk you through it more thoroughly.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I have everything disassembled already, as I was already doing some repairs to the deck when I noticed this problem. What you described sounds pretty much like what I expected, I just wanted to get some basic instructions before I started messing with the tiny parts in there. Also, to clarify a few things: When you say the horseshoe washer, is this the circular shaped one that goes around the post that comes out underneath the button? And as far as the plastic tab, I saw a silver one that comes out underneath the button that looks like it can be moved to the side to release the button, does this sound right? I would definitely appreciate any further clarification or pictures if possible. I'm at work right now but I'll take another look at it once I get home.

Sounds exactly correct. One thing to look for though is if the "tab" on the button is actually a tab. On some of them they just look like it and do not need to be messed with.

To clarify: The buttons with the locking washer on them, do not have tabs. The buttons without a locking washer do.

Here is a picture to show the difference. Notice the groove at the top of the post of the button with no tab. This is where the locking washer goes.

Just got everything put back together and it is working great. Thanks again for all your help!! Also, in case anyone was wondering, my M3Ds have the style with the locking washer or circlip (Thanks DTR) and without the locking tab. Just thought I'd pass this info along.
