Why do all the big names have pioneer cdjs?

This is probably a stupid question, but I always wondered why you never see big dj's use, idk, something like the traktor s4?

Is it because of connectivity and reliability, as in with an analog deck you do not have to worry about laptop crashes? Or do pioneers offer more mixing options that will make things sharper?

    I'm just curious.

Pioneer is the American club standard.
many of the big name DJ's do not travel with gear and they specify in the rider what gear is to be supplied.

    In b4 :lock:

First off, CDJs are digital and runs a firmware... you probably mean standalone. Well, the big guys that have been in the game a long time started out using vinyl. The pain with vinyl is that it is heavy and limiting. The CDJ offered a digital solution (CD) with a tactile similarity to the vinyl (minus moving platter) - couldn't tell you why Pioneer won out over others but it probably was money and an already established reputation through other gear. It basically replaced the 1200 as the industry standard.

I can't imagine many big name guys wanting to lug an S4 as opposed to a book of CDs or even just a USB stick. CDJs are a standard and they can go to 90% of clubs and be able to play.

I think it has more to do with the fact they do not travel with gear.
rather than a laptop, and a spare laptop, and some control vinyl, or whatever
they can have a thumbdrive, and a spare thumbdrive and hop on a plane.

My guess is because for the longest time they were the only ones that could make a reliable player so IMO, they definitely deserve the reputation they've received.
