If the HD8’s $380 price tag is too rich for your blood, the same drivers and basic design can be had from the $320 HD7, only in a plastic frame. And if that big punch is too much for your ears, the $280 HD6 Mix has a much flatter frequency curve. Though after spending time with the HD8, we feel like the sound signature of the HD6 is slightly bland, and maybe even a tad boxy in the mids. That said, we’d have to spend a lot more time with the ‘phones for an in-depth sonic analysis, and knowing Sennheiser, they’ll probably match up well at their price point compared to the rest of the field.

$380 doesn't put me off the HD8s, but it's impossible to say if I'd buy them without hearing/trying them.

I owned a couple of sennheiser headphone with the same design: at the headband junction, the swivels that provide a couple of degrees of movement do crack.

And $380 there means £380 here, not interested.

Here's a video of Sennheiser product manager, Ivan Kuan, talking about the new DJ headphones.

Looks to me that Sennheiser came up with a cheaper headphone that cost more money. The plastic joints will eventually break, and the cord connection on the bottom will wear out faster. The only thing I like is the oval ear pads. They should have just made a new HD25 with oval ear pads, then they would have had something. I wouldn't buy the new headphones even if they where cheaper.
