Would not buy again! Senniheiser H25 C II

I placed an order on the Senniheiser HD25 C II headphones after reading all the good reviews about them, offering great sound, comfort etc. I bought these from Juno for £160 / $259.

Today they arrived in the post and I was excited to try them on.

First impressions, these are alot smaller than I was expecting, the build quality seemed cheap and was made out of plastic ( I was expecting metal ). So I am already not convinced, so I went ahead and tried them on, at a first instance I knew the earcups were too small and they were very tight against my head, too much for my liking, I adjusted the size and still alittle bit too tight and then the next part, the compfort of the ear padding, I changed the ones that were already on with some extra ones provided, that seemed to look more comfortable and still the headphones were not comfortable on my head!

1/5 for comfort and build quality.

Next I tried the sound, plugged them into my traktor kontrol S4, the sound was ok, bad noisecanceling, bass could be better, I would rate the sound to be average, but nothing special.

    3/5 for sound.

Overall, I would say these headphones are no where near to my liking, I instantly contacted juno for a refund, I can not wear these headphones, I am never buying HD25's again, I don't why these are so highly rated , I don't know what I just spent my money on.

    1/5 overall rating.

    Ok i'll bite.

I advise the Sennheisers to anyone that wants new headphones but I know they aren't for everyone.

They are indeed smaller, lighter and tighter on my head than I expected, but I wanted smaller, lighter and tighter headphones but they WILL eventually loosen off a bit. Also to note, just because they are plastic doesn't mean they are cheap. You could physically bounce these things off the ground and they won't break. See the image below to show how good they are.
I also don't see the issue with the ear pads? They are both comfortable to me. But then again it is person preference.

As for sound I totally agree that they lack in bass but it's something you get used to and I don't mind! But again if you're looking for more bass I understand why you don't like them in this part. But I personally love the sound..

You spent your money on headphones are simply aren't flashy, aren't made out of fancy material with your name engraved on them etc like other brands, but you did buy headphones that are comfortable, sound good, light, flexible and can last over 10 years.

Hopefully you find some sort of headphone that suits your needs. Have you tried the Pioneer HDJ2000? It sounds like you're going for something totally different to the HD25s and they might suit you.

This is my personal opinions compared to yours and not any dig in any sort of way. I hope you find the right headphone for you!

The hdj 2000s arent bass heavy either more of balanced sound through the frequencys, but once you get used to using them they are really nice to mix with as you pick up details in the songs that cheaper headphones miss, plus there that precise you can correct any tiny errors before they get noticeable on the pa,one thing i will say though is the sound isolation is good but not outstanding.

@ LiamRD ... Wow, just wow! It sounds like you need some Beats by Dre!

Seriously though, HD-25s are very slightly bass heavy. If you check out a truly flat pair of phones (for instance Beyer DT1350), you'll see for yourself. I too used to want phones that drowned my ears in rich bass. A few years later, when I checked out phones like the HD-25 I realised how difficult I had been making things for myself. If you mix off the hi-hats & snares (more accurate than mixing off the bass beats), the 25s will serve you much better than phones like the HDJ2000 (which I own a pair of) or V-Moda Crossfade LP (even bigger bass). If you just "press sync", hell you can use anything.

The choice is yours, but sending back the 25s is sending back some of the clearest phones out there. If you stick with them, I'm pretty sure they will "grow on you" a lot. There's a reason why they are some the most popular phones with sound recordists, DJs & producers. With HD25s, the money is spent on the drivers, not flashy metal bits & bling. Also, they're almost indestructible.

You're rating is BS. The HD25 is one of the best headphones out there. You obviously are ignorant when it comes to class and good taste.

Seems like you bought a headphone without trying it, thats not a smart idea. Every single head is different and thus every single headphone will feel different for everyone.

Besides, its pretty weird to expect metal headphones, look at how much they weigh.

Soundwise, thats personal preference of course. Different people swear by different phones
