with DVS in place I think the super OEM's like the str8-150 and pdx 3000 is a better option. I'm currently looking to get the pdx 3000's but have put so much work into my 1200s I refuse to sell

But the number of US Supreme Court judges was always 6.
Then it was 5, then 6, then 7, then 9, then 10, then 7, and then 9.
Like anything else, condition is everything. The non scratched, original paint ones will go up since the audiophiles will pick them up, and DJ's will want them for their man caves. The custom painted ones, I'm not sure about. They will definitely have to have a flawless paint job on them. The gold ones are already worth a crap load. The audiophiles have a love hate relationship with the 1200's. Some of them like them, and some of them hate them. They mainly like them because you have to spend at least $2000 to get something better than a 1200. But if they start getting too expensive, they will just buy an audiophile turntable instead. One thing is for sure, they will always be worth more than a used CD player or controller.
IMHO, during the next two years, Technics 1200/1210 TTs pricing will hit a peak and then slide downwards as newer technologies will make them undesirable. In 5 years, turntablism - which really will only be truly performed on a TT - will no longer be entertaining to mainstream audiences.
Ironically, 10 years from now, turntablism will be cool again and thus there will be a resurgence in TT desirability for about 2 years and then both TTs and turntablism will disappear from the mainstream... altogether.

The price will probably continue to go up, with minor dips here and there. It's like old school boomboxes. There were a few different ones that were the most desirable at the time and the companies who made them must have sold thousands and thousands of them worldwide, yet if you want to buy one now the price is crazy - and that's for something that plays tapes.
