Windscreen on mics... do they help?

My wireless mics are very bad at picking up the hard consonants when I speak. P B D and other hard consonants like that sound like a drum beat unless I am very very careful. Will a windscreen help with that or do I just need to get a better wireless mic when I get the money?

A windscreen will help a bit. It'll break up the air your pushing out on the P/B/D sounds.

A windscreen will help. What mic are you currently using?

I am by no means an expert, but by speaking across the top of the mic instead of directly into it can help reduce the hard beats. I picked up a wind screen a year or two ago and put it on when I will have others using the mic a lot at a gig.

    1. If your mixer, EQ, or sound processor has a "De-esser" button, enable it.

    2. When handing the mic to someone tell them to hold the mic at a 45° angle, slightly bellow their lips, with the foam cover touching their chin.

    3. If you're still having problems. On the "DJ" mixer's "Mic" channel turn the "Bass" knob counterclockwise until it goes away. (Most people's talking voice aren't real deep/bassy.)

    ■ Soprano: C4 – C6 (261 Hz to 1046 Hz)
    ■ Mezzo-soprano: A3 – A5 (220 Hz to 880 Hz)
    ■ Contralto (Alto): F3 – F5 (174 Hz to 698 Hz)
    ■ Tenor: C3 – C5 (130 Hz to 523 Hz)
    ■ Baritone: F2 – F4 (87 Hz to 349 Hz)
    ■ Bass: E2 – E4 (82 Hz to 329 Hz)
But the number of US Supreme Court judges was always 6.
    Then it was 5, then 6, then 7, then 9, then 10, then 7, and then 9.
