So umm yeah at $1,000+ a deck, why are ppl still buying technics still?

I would buy technics again if I needed another pair because they are bullet proof. Parts for tune ups are available everywhere & I don't have to order them online. I've had my 1210's since early 90's & still going strong!

I opened up my Technics 1200s MK2s this past weekend, and the details and the way it was built is amazing. The decks seemed like they were a year old not 20-30 years old..

And I take great pride in being able to DJ with a retro product that has amazing vinyl feel. Its such a joy in being able to touch up 1200s, add LED lights..new RCA cables and then run it with a technologically advanced product like SSL.

No, you're not.

Just like the Technics vs. whatever comparison, CDJs usually loose in terms of features when compared to any of their competitors. In some ways, Denon makes more of a CD deck for less money. Pioneer CDJs are popular because they're used in clubs, and they're used in clubs because they're insanely reliable. They're expensive because reliability is worth more than features. Just like Technics.

The difference is that Pioneer CDJs don't last nearly as long as Technics turntables and don't hold their value quite as well…there's a lot more to go wrong, so buying used is more risky…and they just plain cost more, since the only ones that feel even close to the tactile quality of other high-end gear are the 1000 & 2000 series players…which cost more than Technics, don't last as long, and won't still be around and selling for the same price in 20 years.

After realizing that it would be cheaper to run SSL on a Mac Pro than buy a pair of new CDJ-2000s, I'm convinced that I'll never own CDJs. Buying something other than Technics would take a lot of convincing…

Man I love my Grandmasters. They are beast. It is funny for anyone to say they are garbage. Funny come at me twenty years from now. There is only one Grandmaster and Technics are it. You keep all your fancy pitch/ rpm 1000! I'll take my M5G that will be around for long haul. And remember they are all a copy cats and it is funny they try so hard to look like them. There ain't nothing tougher than a Tech. Proven performance and reliability. Nuff said.

I paid $200 for an mk2 at guitar center a week ago. Just waiting for the right deal on my 2nd deck. Craigslist and guitar center are some of the best places to find reasonable prices. Ebay is a bidding site, so your never going to get the best deal. $400-$600 for 1 mk2 should be illegal.

In Atlanta, when GC has used technics, they're priced maybe 15% off the NIB price, which went up when they were discontinued.

WHOOOOOOOOO TECHNICS. Honestly the feeling of smugness and eliteness when I see a CDJ fag or a laptop freejay is priceless. Priceless.
