crab combos

Hey guys,

I've been working on crabs for quite some time now. open and closed. i feel comfortable with it but i am finding it a bit difficult to incorporating it with other scratches without sounding weird. are there some combos that i can work with?

One click flares or orbits are fun to do them with, i like doing it with those.

Chirps as well.

Like JonAvalon stated, one/two click flares or orbits are great choices.

Try: crab foward then 2-click flares back is a nice combo to work on. Also try to add a drag scratch to your record hand when you are performing the flare for this combo.

I like throwing in crabs on the pullback of the record. This sort of thing (I'm very rusty so excuse how crap this is): -

so i would do 1 click flares and the crab after? lol

hmm... I've been trying the drag... so i would forward drag and on the pull back crab..

Crabs and twiddles go together nicely I have found. Pretty basic once you get down the quick switch from 4/3 finger crab to 2 finger twiddle. When done open they are basically the same as the one click flare + a crab, but if you can get them going fast it gives a nice off set four sounds forward on the throw with three sounds on the pull back.

I can't get my crabs rolling continuously like my orbits. The only I have capacity to do is crab and a slow two click flare backwards or a backwards drag. It's sounds gay after a while but I do overdo it and try stick to 2 clicks lol.

So its basically a 1 click flare but your letting go of the record? cuz im use to not letting the record go on my 1 clicks
