Hey guys I need a little assistance with a childrens party

I just got booked for a 2 hour childrens party in June. Typically I wouldnt accept the booking but its my cuz and she is on the board of a school. Her 4th grade class is having a party and hired me. They want a fully interactive DJ that plays games. What should I look to do? Hokey Pokey, limbo hula hoop contest? Sounds corney but I have absolutely no experience with a party like this although I am very good with kids and will enjoy the party. I really want the kids to have a great time!

I don't have too much experience with parties like this either, but don't forget the Chicken Dance, Electric slide, Cotteneye Joe, Musical Chairs, hot potato, maybe get some glow sticks and confetti poppers.

I remember once when I was in the 5th grade, our DJ had a notepad, and you could write "shout outs" which he would announce over the PA.

    Maybe try something from here?:

I personally like the "Flamingo Contest" in that list.

Hopefully some more people can recommend some more ideas.

Good Luck though, but I'm sure you will do fine!

I know that kids can sometimes be a pain, because you always have to keep them entertained.

The Macarena, Limbo rock, YMCA, Cha Cha slide, Mombo #5 could be fun dances the kids will enjoy.

I've stopped doing kid's parties... I've had a few that did not realize I was a "DJ" and not a "babysitter".

Hahaha. I was actually told that my job will be to keep the kids from going into the woods. So I get u Sween

I actually wouldn't typically do a party like this but it is family and a family member that has done a lot for me throughout my 31 years alive lol

I like the song ideas. My only issue is will the kids know them? I just don't see them knowing a lot of the group dances. I know I can lead them but realistically they are 4th graders and kindergardeners so I don't know that they will respond to my directions. Or atleast for any long length of time...

    Thanks for the link!!

I wish I could rep you again, but I gotta spread a little love around before repping you again.

I dont do kids parties anymore either. The last one I did, I cleaned cake out of my speakers & said that's it! No more for me. That was in 2004 I think. Its like doing an outside event, there is no end to the trouble that can happen.

To the op... kudo's to you for doing this for the kids. I hope it works out & you can provide a lot of fun for the kids. Best wishes & good luck
    1) How should I know... Ask the client!
    2) If you put it where I can see it, I'm gonna look at it. If you don't want me to see it, keep it covered up.

    Ditto on the Kid's parties.

This is how I turn them down gracefully: "WE HAVE A FOUR (4) HOUR MINIMUM FOR ALL EVENTS"
