I signed on for a gig. Its a formal ball with an estimated crowd around 300-400 people. It is a mid sized venue with seating around the walls and an open bar. Most people at the ball will be college students with the exception of a few professors etc...

The dance floor needs to be loud but the edges need to be quiet enough for people to have a conversation.

    Please give me constructive advice!

    My setup:

    2x Behringer B215D's on 6" speaker stands
    Numark N4
A lighting stand with a laser, mushroom and scanner.
    And a Shure pm48 microphone.

Do you guys think that this will do the job?

    Thank you,

    Ben
I never noticed that back in 2013. Six inch speaker stands probably didn't help much.

As the Dread Pirate Roberts would say, "Get used to disappointment."

Sent private message to him asking how it went. Fingers crossed he responds.

Turning down gigs sucks, but you have to do it sometimes..

I was actually asked to do a prom but turned it down.

I own crap equipment (no job) and no money for rentals (again, no job.)

Ask for a deposit and use that to rent the gear...schools give me deposits without any hassle at all.

I get a deposit from EVERYONE, no exceptions. 50% at the time of booking and the other 50% 1 week before the event. That seems to be pretty standard
