This. I have tried many a time to educate the people pushing the "dirteh electro haus" as just "electro", and in the electro track of the day or whatever its just rammed full of this kind of music, I personally hate it and would never listen to it. The people in the techno forum tend to have more of a respect for the history of music and know the distinction between "electro" as it is called now, and what it actually is.

It's kinda both.

There's nothing that says a word can't have 2 different meanings, but the term "electro" has basically been hijacked. There was - and still is - a specific genre of music called "electro" that is completely different to - and pre-dates - most of the music being discussed in here which is "electro house". It's the equivalent of if there was a type of music called "reggae house" and people dropped the "house" part and just started calling it "reggae". Obviously, people that were into reggae would start saying "WTF??".

Personally, as a huge fan of electro for 30 years, I think it's important to distinguish between electro and electro house, even if I'm fighting a losing battle on that front.

I would love to be educated if you're willing to teach and show, I understand the nuisance it is to have someone completely misunderstand what something truly is. I'm a b-boy and well people always call it break dancing when it's definitely not called that and along with many of the other misnomers that come along with breaking that the mainstream media incorrectly states. Along with the term "popping and locking," they are two completely different dance styles. Anyways, I'm just saying I am open-minded to what you or anyone has to say if they are willing to say it!
