Mixing news/cultural soundbites for year in review?

I'm wondering if anyone has done a year in review type event where audio (and possibly video in addition) depicting the events of the year are mixed into the music of the year.

After 9/11 someone I knew put together a CD as a fundraiser (almost certainly chock full of copyright violations -- but who was gonna sue over a 9/11 fundraiser a month after it happened?) and it had a mix on it I cherish to this day. I cherish it despite hindsight seeing how 9/11 gave the big government war mongers opportunity to roll the military industrial complex into high gear, and erode our civil rights faster than a pressure washer spewing sulfuric acid. Why? Well, the song that was mixed was Don Henley's "New York Minute." Mixed into the song were soundbites recorded from the news. The combination of the song being eerily appropriate to the events despite being produced long before, and the poignant audio was just perfect IMO.

This year we have Sandy, Felix Baumgartner, The re-election of Obama preceded by a memorable campaign, mostly on the GOP side, and mostly for its missteps, Occupy movements, The final shuttle, Olympic moments, the deaths of Neil Armstrong, Whitney Houston, Mike Wallace and more, and military action in Libya. And of course there was a lot of memorable music...

So does anyone do this for a NYE party or some other year end event?

Not a mix with news sound bites, or DJ mix period.
But JibJab usually puts a year end montage together, although they haven't put one up yet for 2012.

But the number of US Supreme Court judges was always 6.
    Then it was 5, then 6, then 7, then 9, then 10, then 7, and then 9.
