I dj 4.5 hours a night at the current bar...the new bar would be the same deal. both bars have house speakers.
I think I am going to try option 3...see what they say. I know this saturday I can't back out because its the big halloween party this weekend at the current bar. My thing is I'm more afaid that if things don't work out for the new bar for whatever reason then I might be out of a gig all together. and the two bars are far enough apart where there isn't any competeting against each other. the playing all top 40 is ok with me except you know your going to get someone to ask a random song request of something you can't play...but oh well.
Baltimore is not the greatest place for dj's in bars. most small bars don't want to pay nothing (100 a night) and decent size to big bars I would say your lucky to even get 200 a night. and then bars look to see if your bringing people...so not only are you the dj but they want you to be the promoter as well. sucks....not all baltimore bars are like this but a good bit of them are getting that way.
nothing risked, nothing gained

So do you guys just have bars in baltimore?
This was the first thought that came into my head when i read the new place is Top 40 only.
I'm pretty much a pushover, and I personally wouldn't want to rock the boat, so I'd stay at the bar you're already at because of the chill crowd, and how the owner was good to you and how much you enjoy it, but that's because i just DJ as a hobby and i wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings by "Abandoning" them for another bar, but obviously this isn't the ideal choice for your DJ career.
I DEFINITELY would not completely leave the bar you're at now for the other, i suggest option C of trying to move the bar you're at now to Fridays. good luck!
Be honest about the offer from the new bar and suggest "C" option. Tell em you really do not want to leave but the opportunity for a larger venue and larger exposure is really hard to pass up. Tell them about the money, maybe they will match. If they like you they will work with you. Also throw a teaser out there saying that if they keep you Friday night, and you start working at the other spot on Sat. You may be able to bring some of that crowd over once you make a name for yourself.

i go with telling your orig bar the truth. this is what has happened and what do they think. present any options i.e. the friday option and see where they stand.

The place you're at has shown you some loyalty. I wouldn't trade that for $50. I would ask for a pay raise instead of leaving.
Baltimore's club scene is kinda weird. Mostly drinking, rarely dancing.
