Adzmoo:[/B] Mate, Underground Vs Overground in Melbourne is the most ridiculous arguement of the decade. But, it's relevance for me is that, I don't partake in "the underground" anymore, because I don't like the mentality of people bagging anyone who dresses different or listens to different music etc. Same can be said for the commercial scene. A lot of people feel the same. The people who sit hardest on either side of those fences are the reason going out is so socially traumatic. It's either Ice Pipes and emos or Eccies and Muzz Techs. How much morality can you sacrifice to fit into a scene? When all you want is for people to put aside their social prejudices and come together, then both sides are going to come down on you and label you as a synical dick hole when actually, your outlook is more positive than they will ever realise because they can't see there's so much more available than JUST that small slice that they know. When I was in the rave scene and that was the ONLY scene I was involved in, gigs were easy. Not because there was heaps but because it was a small scene and believe it or not, back then, the shit I say now (same preachy message, whinging bullshit), people RESPECTED it! They loved it and it was actually getting me MORE gigs because they thought I was kinda "keeping it real" and keeping shit positive. But, I liked the music. I didn't like the drugs. I didn't like dressing silly. So, for a scene that is supposed to accept everyone (Which it did initially. When I started to get involved at 15 it genuinely was all about that and I love and respect my mentors at that time for teaching me about that and instilling it in me.),later I was being told I had to do things (as a Dj) like "Dress the part" and things like that, well, suddenly it's going from having a social movement to a business enterprise. Which is fine, so long as that business understands the basis it was built on, which more and more, it drifted from and, so did I. I followed 'the teachings of the eldars'. And yes, times change, but a message that isn't broken shouldn't need to be fixed or edited. So, why is the message of "All Welcome" suddenly being edited to "All welcome, provided you dress like us. Talk like us. Live like us." etc. To me, underground, overground.. It doesn't count. It's immature because the reality is music is about sounding good and being enjoyed. Not about where or who or why you go. Yeah people go to be on Facebook, who cares? The people at home shouldn't. Yes it's a shame. But, give me one night with them and I'll have them forgetting about their photos. I will make them dance like NOBODY is watching. Which is what EVERYONE needs. Everyone DESERVES. Everyone should know that feeling. But people have to open themselves up to it. That's why it kills me so much and I take it so personally. Because underneath it all is a message of love that I think the world more than ever needs to hear now. When you are CONSTANTLY having that silenced by, bullshit like "permits" and by bullshit like "Oh we don't go because everyones a wanker now", it's frustrating! And NO ONE should have to consider fucking, ridiculous bullshit like that when they are throwing a PARTY!!! OF ALL THINGS!! Parties, gigs, nights what ever you want to call them. They're CELEBRATIONS! not choires!
Anyways I'm sorry about that. I get really angry when people talk about "melbourne underground" because, yeah.. But as I've said. I'm talking to some fantastic venues. And also some fantastic Dj's. (Yeah damn fucking straight I find the best Melbourne has to offer and the rest can fuck off!)

But I need advice on how to handle it from a promotional perspective. And I don't mean from the
"Maybe stop being a dick on forums" stand point, I mean from the, how do I capture these peoples attentions with the restrictions I have? How do I make them enter a dangerous zone (as in, a venue they've never gone to or something new to them)?
