I have no where to play. I'm at my wits ends!
Demo's and shit just don't cut it anymore today!
Lol! Shut up fuck ya
Im feeling opressed and shit because this venue I was chunky with is closing down. Another one that a lot of friends of mine were in with closed a few weeks ago. EVERYTHING is closing here. Theres nothing to go to and a zillion Djs trying to get in
A lot of clubs don't last, and there's always a zillion idiots lining up for their 15 minutes of fame. It's not all fun and games in that sort of business, quite often the opposite. On the other hand I can't quite believe that EVERYTHING in Melbourne is shutting down.
Trust me, I get that a lot of bars don't last. When I wassss 15 or 16 there was heaps of local bars I wanted to play at because they were the regular haunts of the guys I looked up to.
I grew up and hosted gigs and or Dj'd in them ALL! EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM! Yet for most I had never known because during that time the bar had changed names and owners and so forth and because I was too young to go years again, at the time I didn't even realise I was running the clubs I'd dreamed of even attending as a teenager.
So, I love that! except, now, a lot of them aren't just changing management anymore, they're actually CLOSING. The one that was recently operated the same Friday night gig for 10 years! Now, ok I can understand 100% why business for that venue went to the shitter and it wasn't so much about government intervention or anything like that, (Though it may have played a part), but there was a LOT of things this particular venue could have done to keep up with the times but simply didn't do or failed to do right. The result, dwindling numbers.
It's a night mare. It just feels like EVERYTHING is just, really, really dismal here. It seriously feels like nightlife is dying.
You could start by finding a bar with a basement or function room, and putting on your own night?!
"Even self-perception and the sense of time were changed. When the eyes were closed, colored pictures flashed past in a quickly changing kaleidoscope. What had caused this condition?" -- Albert Hofmann -- Laboratory Notes (1943)
If you're complaining about Melbourne try gigging in any other aus city.. Probably gonna be worse
