Ultra Music Festival expands to second weekend

    http://www.ultramusicfestival.com/ul...22-23-24-2013/

ULTRA MUSIC FESITVAL MAKES HISTORY AS THE FIRST GLOBAL MAJOR EDM FESTIVAL TO EXPAND TO TWO WEEKENDS MARCH 15, 16 & 17 AND MARCH 22, 23 & 24, 2013

ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL has now confirmed it will hold the 15th edition of its
    gargantuan event over two three-day weekends March 15, 16 & 17 and March 22,
23 and 24, 2013. This marks the first time ever for a major electronic dance music
(EDM) festival to do so anywhere.

Having teased the world with a provocative countdown clock on its YouTube
channel just days ago, Ultra Music Festival has today, October 15, shocked fans by
revealing this extraordinary news right at the end of an exclusive video on UMF TV,
entitled “RELIVE THE ULTRA 2012 EXPERIENCE.”

following the footsteps of coachella, eh? this isn't a bad idea considering the ungodly amount of time conflicts that always happen (assuming you got enough money to go to both).

apparently the price of the early bird will not go up from last year either, so it'll be like $180-200.

i wonder how fast these tickets will sellout.

Pretty amazing how big this industry is getting... Kind of makes me think what is the next big thing going to be?

I've been thinking the same damn thing....In my opinion that one week is so special.. If they extend it to two weeks it'll take that "Miami Music Week" spirit out, after a while people are going to tire of this and move on to some other new "recycled, revived, pop up" genre. Maybe rock? Maybe jazz? Maybe reggae? Who knows.

    this.

WMC is already dying out, as far as parties, because of all the exclusive contracts Ultra makes with the top DJs. This is why ppl like Deadmau5 and Swedish House refused to play last yr and did their own things.

WMC use to have great parties all week, but last yr there weren't many that I would call great. It was all about Ultra and the 3 day line-up.

i'd disagree as i went to some terrific parties this year and the last and ignoring UMF as a whole. As far as WMC goes, you can consider UMF the buns and WMC the actual meat of the sandwhich. Even though UMF encompasses both weekends surrounding WMC, the conference is still better and offers more shows and parties.

i absolutely despise the price tags on some of these shows though. Ultra-sponsored parties going for like $75? fuck that.

I always do a few parties during that week, never umf. The choices were way lower compared to past yrs. Not to say there weren't good parties, but UMF had a large amount of big headliners under contract.

You can't do other gigs within a certain radius (like, 200 miles I'd say?) of the event for a certain time period.
