I'm fine with my 1200s. And my sl1 still works.
I never buy the latest gear and the reason to that is simple. Most of the time companies especially American ones work on a product with a deadline. Effectively meaning whether it's ready or not let's sell it anyway and fix the bugs later.
Wants=/= needs
I thought I would update this thread with what I ended up doing. Initially I purchased 2 Pioneer CDJ 2000 Mk1 and a DJM-2000. The primary reason for getting the Mk1 was cost as well as general stability. I purchased the DJM-2000 thinking it was the best mixer Pioneer makes so I might as well as get it. Almost as soon as I put in the order, the whole thing did not sit well with me. Instead of being happy I was anxious.
After viewing a boatload of videos on both the DJM-2000 and the DJM-900, I came to the conclusion that I had made a mistake. For what I wanted to do the DJM-900 was going to be a better choice. On the Mk1 vs Nexus front, I came to the conclusion that I really wanted the extra functionality of the 2000 Nexus. Given that I use and like Traktor with my S4 but would really like to ditch the laptop, the CDJ 2000 Nexus got me closer to that vision. Plus the Nexus wasn't that much more than the Mk1. In the end, I cancelled my original order and purchased the CDJ 2000 Nexus and DJM-900. It should be here in a couple of days, so I guess I'll find out shortly if I made the right decision.
