No, you don't. You have evidence of EDM producers posing as DJ's doing it though.

If they're DJing, then they're DJs. It's more convenient for the EDM Defence Force to try and portray someone like Steve Angelo is solely a producer though, but that's just lamesauce.

Continuing in the same vein, when you've released a tune with as much pedigree and cross genre appeal as 'spastic' and reinvented the mix cd with something like DEX EFX & 909 or DE9 then maybe you can continue to berate the guy from your ivory tower.

Seriously, I'm no Hawtin cheerleader but the guy knows his shit and has a history to prove it. It may just look like knob twiddling to you, but making difficult shit look easy is all part of talent. If modern digital DJs took a finger full of inspiration from Hawtin we wouldn't all be drowning in boring electro house mixes and spotty 'DJs' staring at their laptops, auto-syncing one tune into the next for hours on end when they should be paying attention to the dancefloor in front of them. The guy is basically producing on the fly, the fact that it looks easy is a testament to his ability. Hawtin has probably done more to try and push the live reproduction of electronic music through inventive ways of using new technology than any other big name DJ out there. The idea that Hawtin is content to stay 'on the same level' is laughable, and this is apparent to anyone with even a passing knowledge of his work.

To put it another way you haven't the slightest fucking idea what you're talking about and if you wanted to really beat down on fake EDM DJs, (of which there are an increasing number - I fully agree here), then there are far better individuals suited to your wrath. Hawtin may be an absolute cunt these days, but a 'fake' EDM DJ he most certainly is not.
I agree with everything this guy said. I'm also a little hurt at the gentle swipe at Australians.

Adrian R, stop posting, go and listen to some super rad Armand Van Helden set or something because you are embarrassing yourself and your country on here.

Patrick has this rockabilly "Black Label Circus" gig in Brooklyn. Luca DJed there a few weeks back and did a great job. It was a lot of fun.

lol @ me Embarassing Australia any more than it possibly could be embarassed. I'll embarass my country as much as I like mate I don't even like the bloody place and everyone here knows that 90% of what we lay claim to talent wise actually originated in New Zealand anyway.

But see how I said that Hawtin fans crack the shits if you don't like his music? .... Was I wrong? WAS I? Here I've said that I don't like it, and WHY I don't like it and the Hawtin militia has come out to be like "LEAVE HIM A LONE" Remember, I said I KNOW his acheivments. I'm not bagging what he's done. I'm not saying he hasn't been beneficial, all I'm saying is I think he could be better. I never said he was fake, I just said HE COULD BE BETTER.

If EDM Djs were worth shit I'd pay attention to them but I have my own agenda to work for and sucking up their scrotums isn't part of it so who gives a rats ass how fake they are? Let them do what they want man, they're only playing someone elses music anyway so deep down, who cares?

Done that once at a house party, they had the gear and a huge pile of rock, hard rock and metal CD heaven, and shoved me in there. It was sort of circumstantial but I definitely had a blast.

    "Have a nice day"

And yeah dude, Rock Gigs aren't half bad. I've noticed you get either really good ones or really shit ones. In pubs it goes off like a cock in a sock.

That will vary on the DJ and his rock culture. I mean if someone starts playing blink182 & Greenday back to back then gives a big shootout on the latest metallica, I'd walk out of the room holding my ears in my hands.

MUAHAHHA Ive done that and made it work. It's bizzare. Still, Mobile gigs have a lot of rock music. I've had to play Metallica, Sepultura, Pantera etc etc. Also tho Blink 182 etc.

All time best... Phil Collins and Van Halen! "TELLLL ME WHYYYY CAN'T THIS BEEEE LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

Oh and I like to finish with "GODDDDD GAVE ROCK n ROLLL TOOOOO YOU, GAVE ROCK N ROLLL TO YOU PUT IT IN THE SOULLLLLLL OF EVERYYYYYYYYONEEEEEEEEE'
