I understand where you're coming from. I have 2 1200's but I don't use them. I bought the Numark NS7 shortly after it came out and switched to the Numark V7's a while later. The NS7's and V7's are the closest to 1200's in my opinions. I actually use my 1200 flight cases for my V7's. I just added a little extra padding to make it snug. I now own the DDJ-SX and it is awesome. The jog wheel however is not as sophisticated as the V7's. If you do a lot of scratching you probably want to use the V7's because it is much closer to the feel of 1200's. I plan to use my DDJ-SX for gigs where I will mix and sample a lot. When I want to beat juggle and scratch I'll use my V7's.
If you can you should check out one of the DDJ-SX at your local music store like Sam Ash or Guitar Center. Play with it a bit and you'll see what I mean.
