    Using Soundcloud (Copyright issues?)

    Hi,

I want to start posting my mixes on soundcloud like many others do, however I recorded a mix the other day and went to upload it, however it wont complete the upload as it says that my sound contains copyright material, and then it tells me the song and artist that is causing the issue..

Surely other people must have this problem. How do i get around this?

    Thanks

Re-record the mix without that track.
Find it. Keep it. Work it. Share it.

Had issues when I first started posting my mixes. I got flagged for a song or 2, and they offered a way to dispute it. I emailed soundcloud, linked the file and explained the song selection that all the songs were legally purchased and used for promotional purposes and in no way used to make any type of profit.

I havent had a problem since (this first happened 7 months ago).

However, most people are switching away from soundcloud due to issues like this. Mixcloud is much better as far as copyright problems go...

This happened to me and did exactly what djdavidvaux did. I also offered to not offer the mix up for a free download, and they let the mix through.

had that problem with mixes and remixes. either re-do the mix without that track or up it to another place.
I use mixcrate in this situation.

I've upped a mix or two and never had any issues. Heard of people having the same problems though. You're probably just unlucky with the track selection.

    Try MixCloud instead, surely?

I was originally with soundcloud, and it worked fine for about a year. I uploaded a mix that was copyrighted apparently and I really didn't want to dispute it. I decided to give mixcloud a try but I didn't want to have shift my whole fan base.

Ultimately, I just started hosting everything on my website because it's much easier (and beneficial) for me to link that than to link multiple file hosts. I still get analytics and stuff, so the only thing I've lost really is the facebook integration.
