Skim through it and quickly try to see where the transitions are so you can analyse the skill of the transitions and that's it, OR
do you actually listen start to finish, no skipping bits?

depends on who it is spinning, I usually prefer to listen to the entire mix so I can get a feel for the vibe of the set. Sometimes when I get a demo for booking submissions I will usually skip to the mixes/transitions; often the track selection is redundant between quite a few of the 'up and coming' DJs around here, so I can get an idea of how good the DJ is pretty quick :p
any mix I download I will listen to the whole thing, mostly stuff from soundcloud or podcasts from DJs I really like
I always listen form the beginning, I never skip through. Some of my favourite mixes have some questionable transitions but the selection and programming smash it
Listen straight through, and I prefer to hear it all in one session to keep the vibe. Car trip is good for this.
Beginning till end, without deviation. My reason: ^^All the other reasons posted above.![]()
listen to the whole thing or there would be no point in downloading it. some songs alone are not very good but as part of the fully picture they can make much more sense and sound alot better.
I don't care about the transitions - I'm the opposite. I skip to every song and skip over the transitions.
Although the only reason I listen to dj sets is to find new music for my own sets. It's most commonly research based listening![]()

Electro/Dubstep DJ and PRODUCER. Although i produce better than i DJ.
I do both. If it's a pro that I'm a fan of I listen the whole way through without worry. If I have a buddy that sends me a mix and tells me to critique it, I'll do the skipping but when I'm done, then I'll listen to it the whole way through.
