I had a bar approach me that got rid of their 'dj' a few months ago.(Guy sitting on itunes, single powered speaker, totally unapproachable)
I DJed the last night they had lined up for a DJ, and blew them away that DJs actually 'mix' music still, however it wasn't enough to keep the night open as the owner wasn't there and had already made his mind up.
Today the general manager shot me a message about a Halloween party and starting a new weekly night there. I have no problem doing the Halloween party and would like to get back into a residency again so this looks like a good opportunity.
The problem is the location and logistics of it all. First, the night I djed there, the only crowd I got was from people wrapping up dinner, and a 11:50pm crowd of people coming from a wedding and waiting around for taxis/rides. There is one hall in this town and two bars with no entertainment at all. Everyone I have spoke to about it, all head out of town for entertainment (specifically a bar about 15 minutes away, another DJ I work with).
The particular bar has been recently updated and is quite nice. I have some belief that it could have a night built up with some time put into it.
So I basically have a clean slate, for better or worse.
I'm looking for some theme ideas, concepts, strategies to help build a night up, if all goes well it could expand to two other locations they have as well.
