    Are CDs dying?

A big collection of CDs I have. The question here:

Will my CDs become old? As in totally out of date, As in the cassette tapes?

Are they going to die? Meaning, will it will be pointless to invest on those $1000 Pioneer or other professional CD players?

    CDs aren't dying; they're dead!

Not pointless if CDs are your chosen media for playing. That's a personal choice thing, IMO.

What's dying is the quality (sonically) of music. Compressed music is killing my ears.

Only a few dj's here or else ware care enough to use lossless or even know the difference. And if the consumer does not care why should the people making the recordings. I am a fan of vinyl but it is not practical or cost effective for the wedding DJ like me. I went strait from vinyl to a controller and always rip to flac so i do care. Digital is good and we have cheap high speed internet and big hard drives are cheap so if you can you should use loss less if it is available.

CDs die out even more every year. I still use them, but I'll probably pick up a pair of CDJ-2000mk1s for USB right before tax season (hopefully theyll be down in price by then too)
